What’s going on in Washington?

While America is entrenched into three or more wars, the Republican controlled congress is trying to force the current government compromise again or force a government shutdown!

Well, doesn’t this sound familiar?

Remember, just a few month ago the Republican controlled congress forced the Whitehouse to compromise or thousand of unemployed would have lost there unemployment benefits.

Why? Well, simply the Whitehouse wanted to let the giveaway (tax exemption)  for the super rich expire, which would have helped to reduce the federal budget deficit. On the other hand Republican controlled congress believes that the government should not help unemployed people to survive by giving them our tax money. They claim that these benefits would put a too great burden on the deficit.

All this reminded me on an essay I had currently read in the New York Time about a book called “Indignez-Vous!” or in English “Time for Outrage!” written by Stéphane Hessel. He urges young people to revive the ideal of resistance, resisting the “international dictatorship of the financial markets” and defending the “values of modern democracy.”

In my opinion, although we live in a modern democracy, Stéphane Hessel made a point. It appears that forces of international dictatorship of the financial markets around the word are growing. Yes, we don’t have a political dictatorship like seen in the Middle East. However, it appears to me  more and more that these forces, like the Republican Party in the USA, are more interested in making money rather than creating or maintaining a harmonious society.

Republican have been spreading the fear of socialism, as they did when they claimed that President Obama was a socialist, but on the other hand have been push for laws that favor corporation rather than people.

Think! Think! Think!

What is more important, a harmonious society or an international dictatorship of CEOs and the financial markets?
