Bringing honesty and trust back into the government

With great delight and pride, I watched the Inaugural of Barack Hussein Obama to become the 44th President of the United States of America.

Moreover, I am pleased to read that President Obama has moved quickly to create some benchmarks for a "more responsible, more accountable governmen". It is amazing to see a United States President actually ordering a salary freeze for senior White House staff, tightening rules on lobbyists and establishing a new standard of greater government openness.

All this shows that President Obama is serious about bringing honesty and trust back into the government after eight years of an administration that had shrouded itself in secrecy.

Hearing President Obama say , "However long we are keepers of the public trust, we should never forget that we are here as public servants", gives me a feeling of hope! Furthermore, it gives me the feeling that we are truly moving towards "a new era of openness in our country” as President Obama had promised and maybe even towards a new era of honesty, openness and trust around the world.
