It is incredible to me, how we allow false information to spread so easy. There used to be a time, when people were held responsible for their statements on Radio, TV or News Paper. However, with the emerging of the internet, it seems that that anyone is able to spread rumor or false information over the internet. Smear campaigns are even instigated by politicians who are looking for an advantage in the public eyes. Hate radio talk-shows (i.e. Rush Limbaugh) are allowed to stir up hate and violence under the umbrella of free speech.
Once false information is quoted by newscasts, it spreads like fire as many people do not even think about these information critically. People who are critical are called elitist because they are better educated.
I wish that there would be an independent agency which would challenge this dishonesty as well as stop the spread of these false information.
